CD liner-notes:

These recordings made by Alexis Korner with New Church in 1969 show very clearly that he liked to turn his appearances in workshops, often telling his audience about blues music in the process. Whether in large halls, theatres, at festivals or in pubs, Alexis used different musical means to bring the audience closer to the blues. Of course he was himself always close to the public. With his open, charming style he was always willing to have a chat or a conversation about music. This man, who never became a star through his own music but helped numerous musicians on their road to riches, was always ready and willing to do something to please individual fans.

In 1975, Alexis Korner went on tour with Peter Thorup, Dick Morrissey and Kenny Gutmann. The jazz-blues band "Backdoor" appeared as the support band. But in this case "support band" doesn't mean much anyway. During the gigs they all played together anyway, -these jazz-blues sessions are on the tracks1-5. The material consists traditional work, songs written by themselves and some borrowed material. By no means hits, but with a great classic – and collector value for all these who found previous live recordings a touch too smooth.
